Accused Impaired Driver Didn’t Even Realize His Tire Was Falling Off

A 38-year-old Mississauga man is facing impaired driving charges after the OPP stopped his vehicle with a tire falling off one of its rims. It happened yesterday morning around 6:00am on Highway 10 near Charleston Sideroad in Orangeville. Police say the officer saw sparks coming from the car’s front wheel and debris flying onto the road. He was responding to a complaint from residents about an erratic driver. The front driver’s side tire on the car was half off the rim. The driver likely didn’t notice because he was (allegedly) intoxicated. He was charged with impaired driving, over 80 and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He will appear in an Orangeville courtroom on May 4 to address the charges.
