The wildfires in British Columbia are so bad, reports say the smoke is affecting air quality as far away as Edmonton. Emergency officials in B.C. say more than 200 fires are still burning across the province and the situation is still deteriorating. Yesterday, fires charred 60 square km near Ashcroft, west of Kamloops. About 14,000 people have been evacuated from their homes in the central and southern Interior. Another 10,000 people in Williams Lake are on evacuation alert because more fires are anticipated. About 300 reinforcement fire-fighters from Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick are arriving to allow the BC firefighters to get some rest.
